Botox Q & A's
The beauty of a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is that it's a simple, non-surgical process. There can be a noticeable improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between the brows that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary. And there’s no recovery time. You can even do it on your lunch break.
What to expect the day of your treatment. Dr. Barrett will administer several tiny injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic directly into the muscles that cause those moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. You can expect to be in and out of Dr. Barrett’s office without downtime. Improvement may continue for as long as a month, and could last up to 4 months.
Laser Q & A's
How does the laser work?
The laser emits a gentle beam of energy that passes through the skin to the hair follicle. The energy is then transformed into heat, which damages the follicle.
Why is TKS important?
TKS makes it possible for laser energy to “select” only hair follicles, while sparing surround skin from damage. This brings the cosmetic results you want with the clinical results you need.
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for laser hair removal?
If you are concerned about unwanted hair, you are probably a good candidate for laser hair removal.
Nearly everyone is a candidate for hair removal with the “Elite” Laser we have form Cynosure. The most dramatic results occur for patients with light skin and dark hair, but TKS makes it possible for patients with darker skin to receive greater benefit from the procedure
Other factors can influence the treatment process, and are evaluated during your initial consultation.
Is the treatment painful?
Most patients describe the treatment as a series of slight pin pricks to the skin. The majority of patients tolerate this sensation without requiring anesthetics. Within about 30 minutes of treatments, the area may become pink or red, and this may last a few hours to one day.
How many treatments are required?
Hair grows in cycles. The laser only affects hair when it is in its early-growth phase. The laser will disable follicles that are actively producing hair at the time of treatment. At any time, some hair follicles are dormant. Repeat sessions will treat these follicles when they re-enter the growth phase.
Where on the body can I get this?
We are able to get any hair that is growing and that has Pigment (color) to it. There is no limit to our lasers, so there is no limit to where you can get this done. Under arm, Legs, lip, back, sides, neck (I can go on and on…)
What should I expect after treatment? Remember, the hair will not fall out tonight…or tomorrow for that matter! It can take up to 3 weeks for the hair to fall away. You can help this process along by gentle use of a washcloth or loofa sponge 4-5 days after treatment.
Immediately following laser treatment, you may experience redness or minor swelling of the skin, similar to mild sunburn. These normal tissue effects are temporary and will usually disappear over the next twenty-four hours. A soothing aloe vera gel or cold packs may be used to ease any discomfort. Do not use aspirin.
A small percentage of individuals may experience blistering or peeling of the skin. The peeling is similar to the effects of sunburn and it is recommended that the peeling skin not be removed as it may lead to scarring.
*Nowaxing, tweezing, bleaching or depilatories between treatments.
